This article explains how SKUPREME handles package dimensions for orders, particularly focusing on wholesale orders and master carton scenarios. Understanding these rules is crucial for proper order fulfillment and shipping optimization.
Dimension Priority Logic
Single Unit Orders (Quantity = 1)
-
Package dimensions entered on the item details page are always prioritized.
-
If package dimensions are not available, the system will check for carton dimensions from the fulfillment provider.
Multiple Unit Orders (Quantity > 1)
The system follows this priority sequence:
1. Exact Carton Match- If the order quantity exactly matches a carton's unit capacity (e.g., 150 units order matches a 150-unit carton), the system will use those carton dimensions.
-
For orders that are multiples of carton capacity (e.g., 300 units with 150-unit cartons), the system will calculate dimensions using multiple cartons.
2. Default Handling
If no exact carton match is found, the system will:
- Use package dimensions if available.
-
Calculate dimensions using item attributes if package dimensions are not found.
Order Value Limits
-
The system can be configured to stop orders that exceed a certain value.
-
These orders will remain in "Pending Shipment" status.
-
Configuration can be found in the Order Settings page.
-
This feature can be used to manually review and handle large wholesale orders that might require special shipping arrangements.
Best Practices
-
Always maintain accurate package dimensions in the item details page.
-
For wholesale items, ensure master carton dimensions are properly configured.
-
Consider setting order value limits for wholesale accounts to enable manual review of large orders.
